TECNALIA has over 50 years experience developing Technological Services for Conformity Assessment, Testing, Quality Control, Fault Analysis, Calibration and Inspection for companies to improve their competitiveness. We offer technological solutions that make our clients' business grow.

Among the Technological Services offered by Tecnalia the area of sustainability is located. This area is divided into 3 laboratories: Environmental Control Laboratory, Energy Efficiency Laboratory and Urban Environmental Health Laboratory. The activities of the Urban Environmental Health Laboratory (UEH) are aimed at the chemical industry sector and biocidal products, and at manufacturers of materials and companies and public bodies related to plague management.

One of the key services of the UEH Laboratory is satisfying the laboratory needs of the industry in relation to the REACH Directives and the Biocides Directive. The laboratory is staffed with highly qualified personnel made up of graduates and doctors in chemistry and biology, and has a significant technological capability, to perform studies of Biodegradability / Compostability of materials, studies of emission and washing away of chemical compounds and biocides to the environment (Leaching Test), Ecotoxicity studies with aquatic and terrestrial bioindicators, and Analytical studies of the presence and quantification of biocides (BPL Accredited Laboratory Number 4/LE38 for Chemical Substance Studies, for the testing of “active material content” and ecotoxicology of aquatic and terrestrial organisms).

In addition to the services already mentioned the laboratory also offers biological assessment of biocidal products: wood protection, insecticides, fungicides, bactericides, repellents, etc.; biological durability studies of materials against all types of organisms; sustainable management of plagues in the urban environment and stored products; emission of material VOCs and certification of Buildings and IEQ studies (FEDECAI Accredited Laboratory for the inspection of the internal environmental quality of buildings).
