AENOR

The Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR) is the Spanish National Standardization Body, national representative and member of the European (CEN and CENELEC), International (ISO and IEC) and Panamerican (COPOLCO) Standards Organizations, and member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI).

The Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR) is a non profit-making, private, independent and multisectoral organisation, recognised at National, European and International levels since 1986. Through the development of technical standards and certifications, helps improve the quality and competitiveness of companies, products and services.

AENOR has 20 offices in Spain and permanent presence in 13 countries mainly in Latin America and Europe. As standardization body, AENOR is the legal body responsible for the development and dissemination of technical standards in Spain. It is the national representative and member of the European (CEN and CENELEC), International (ISO and IEC) and Panamerican (COPOLCO) Standards Organizations, and member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). More than 30000 standards in catalogue, 200 national committees and 150 responsibilities in international standardization committees (chairpersons, secretariats, convenors) are some samples of the experience developed as national standardization body.

AENOR is participating in many Research and Innovation projects (FP7, Life+, CIP, IEE, etc.) to support and manage the integration of standardization activities in the projects, fostering the dissemination of their results to the relevant European stakeholders and facilitating their introduction into the market. It is also an active member of the CEN-CENELEC Technical Board STAIR Group (Standardization, Innovation and Research), which develops the practical integration of standardization and research in Europe. As certification body, AENOR has issued certificates in more than 60 countries, being one of the World Top 10 conformity assessment organizations. It is accredited for 115 different certification activities.

AENOR also develops significant publishing activity, it designs software for system management, it delivers a wide range of specific training and offers various information services. In the field of testing, it is the senior partner of CEIS (Testing, Innovation and Services Centre), an international benchmark centre whose activity includes the performance of compliance tests, technical studies, as well as preventive and predictive maintenance of facilities. In parallel, AENORlaboratorio covers the three principal areas of analysis: physicochemical, microbiological and sensorial and is aimed at all the players in the food sector, such as primary producers, processing, distribution and services industries.

AENOR offers a proven track record and information on standards about products and services connected with organizations from all over the world, performing major work in the field of international cooperation. It has performed more than 600 cooperation actions, in more than 25 international cooperation projects, alone or inside consortia, as leader or partner.
